JRC Components Ceramic Pulley Wheels are compatible with all SRAM Eagle Systems. Our 12 + 14 tooth Jockey Wheels are crafted from billet aluminium, CNC machined and finally anodised before having hybrid ceramic bearings installed.

FAQs

Do the pulleys require any maintenance?

In general very little maintenance is required for our pulleys due to both the seals and thick grease which is pre-applied.
If you would like to keep them fresh after heavy use, or long mileage and you are confident in peeling back the bearing seals with a scalpel or similar sharp blade, the bearings can be lubricated with a slightly thicker grease, such as lithium grease. Generally this is a good consistency for the bearings.

Will the anodising wear off after use?

Because the tips of the teeth on the pulleys are coming into contact most frequently with the chain, slight visibility of the raw aluminium colour can be expected after consistent use. This will not gradually expand in size however and will only be apparent on the very end of the pulleys at the contact points. Once the pulleys are kept clean, the overall colour of the body will not change over time.

Are the pulley wheels noisier than stock plastic pulleys?

While we dont have a lab based conclusion for this, measuring comparative sound levels, the level of noise when compared to stock plastic pulley wheels should be unnoticeable on a well maintained, lubricated drivetrain.

Will these work with my specific groupset?

Poor quality

The pulley wheels are weak and from soft material produced. When you are a havier rider with a lot of power in the Legs these wheel are not the right once. I bought A spare package but they also broke.

It's worth some context on the heavier-rider concern, as that isn't really how pulleys are loaded. Pedalling force runs through the top chain section from chainring to cassette — the derailleur pulleys themselves only see the cage return spring's tension, which is a few nm. max, regardless of how much power a rider puts down. Stock plastic pulleys (which are substantially weaker than ours) handle heavy riders fine for the same reason.

Ours are CNC machined from 7075-T6, the strongest commercial grade of aluminium.

When pulleys do break, the cause is almost always a mis-shift, debris caught in the cage (a stick or stone), or an indexing offset on a fresh install. A second set failing the same way on the same drivetrain strongly points to setup rather than the part given its a very uncommon problem that we almost never receive feedback about.
