JRC Components Ceramic Pulley Wheels are compatible with all SRAM Eagle Systems. Our 12 + 14 tooth Jockey Wheels are crafted from billet aluminium, CNC machined and finally anodised before having hybrid ceramic bearings installed.

FAQs

Do the pulleys require any maintenance?

In general very little maintenance is required for our pulleys due to both the seals and thick grease which is pre-applied.
If you would like to keep them fresh after heavy use, or long mileage and you are confident in peeling back the bearing seals with a scalpel or similar sharp blade, the bearings can be lubricated with a slightly thicker grease, such as lithium grease. Generally this is a good consistency for the bearings.


Will the anodising wear off after use?

Because the tips of the teeth on the pulleys are coming into contact most frequently with the chain, slight visibility of the raw aluminium colour can be expected after consistent use. This will not gradually expand in size however and will only be apparent on the very end of the pulleys at the contact points. Once the pulleys are kept clean, the overall colour of the body will not change over time.

Are the pulley wheels noisier than stock plastic pulleys?

While we dont have a lab based conclusion for this, measuring comparative sound levels, the level of noise when compared to stock plastic pulley wheels should be unnoticeable on a well maintained, lubricated drivetrain.

Will these work with my specific groupset?

Perfect SRAM stock pully wheel upgrade/replacement

I enjoyed sets of these pulley wheels on my other bikes and this one is a perfect upgrade/replacement for the stock SRAM pulley wheels. Very easy to install with hex key.

Precision at its best

These blow SRAM OEM XX1 pulley wheels out of the water. If you take SRAM bearing apart, you'll find only 1 ceramic ball, yes, 1 BALL, the rest are steel. That's one ball for both bearings. I've contacted SRAM directly and they explained to me that it's like that by design, to crush the dirt apparently... I don't think they should be able to title theirs as "ceramic bearings".
After that fiasco, I of course took JRC bearings slightly apart, to be pleasantly presented with all ceramic balls, just like a ceramic bearing should be. They have very tight tolerances with 0 movement side to side. Very impressed, especially for the price!

Now I'm impatiently waiting for JRC to design and offer pulley wheels like this for my Transmission derailleurs.
